Excluding fostered workers, business sector employment rose by a year-on-year 2.4% to 1,870,900 in November. Approximately 12,100 people, which constitutes 0.6% of those employed in the sector, worked as fostered workers in November. Fostered workers are employed mainly in forestry and water management projects in the sector and are paid less than minimum wage by the government.
Employment in budgetary institutions fell 0.3% in twelve months to 841,500 in November. The fall was exclusively due to a sharp, 9.7%, drop in the number of fostered workers, to 145,500, from twelve months earlier when the special public work schemes for the winter season were introduced. Excluding fostered workers, employment in the sector rose 1.9%.
The number of employed people has been rising year-on-year every month since April 2013 after a steady drop that began in December 2011, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
