According to Vasas, the Democratic League of Independent Trade Unions (LIGA) is planning to agree with Mercedes-Benz Hungary on freezing wage hikes for two years, index.hu reported.
The Hungarian news portal recalled that tensions have been growing in the Hungarian automotive industry, as the market has seen a serious labor shortage while workers have been underpaid. This spring the automotive industry was threatened by looming strikes, which were finally avoided.
A possible strike would not only hurt the firm itself, but Hungary’s economy as well, given that the country’s automotive industry is its main economic driver.
