Han had brief talks with President László Sólyom and after receiving a salute of honor at Heroes’ Square, he laid a wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier. President Sólyom expressed his support for further Korean investments in Hungary but noted that there had been problems in connection with workers’ rights, environmental protection and access to public information at the Korean tyre maker Hankook’s factory in Dunaújváros in central Hungary.
Following talks with Hungarian counterpart Ferenc Gyurcsány in Parliament, Han said he would make sure that Hankook complies with Hungarian regulations. Korean firms have invested over half a billion dollars in Hungary in recent years with major businesses such as Samsung and Hankook present in Hungary. (people.com.cn)
