Martin Schulz (pictured), President of the European Parliament since 2014, reportedly said he sees “national egoism” coming into play in how “certain countries” handle the refugee crisis. He noted that it is unacceptable that 90% of refugees are being accepted by nine countries out of the 28 EU member states, Euronews noted. He reportedly said that Hungary is the only country in the EU that had refused to accept refugees in July when negotiations on the volunteer quota were taking place.
As the refugee crisis in Hungary escalates, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is scheduled to meet leaders of the Visegrád Four countries this evening in Prague and will also meet leaders in Brussels tomorrow to discuss how to deal with the current situation.
