The government has finally decided that schools and hospitals that are now operated by municipalities will get state maintenance, online news portal Index reported.

Handling allowances and benefits, such as operating nursery schools and kindergartens, will remain in the competence of the municipalities.

The decisions were made on Thursday at a government session in Hajdúszoboszló. The government still plans to reach agreement in issues such as reducing the autonomy of Budapest districts.

Also, following a four-hour debate, the government finally postponed the appointment of the supervisory authority for municipality management.
