“Hungary does not have the economic power of Germany or Sweden, so similar wages cannot be guaranteed here in Hungary, but the government is still committed to raising wages gradually,” Lázár said today during his regular weekly press conference. He said a new healthcare program is being launched this September, entitled “Healthy Hungary”, in the framework of which wages for healthcare workers will be raised.
In next year’s budget, the government allocated HUF 167 billion for raising the wages of healthcare workers, Lázár said. He noted that the government has negotiated and agreed with relevant unions on the matter.
Lázár added that Budapest will see the establishment of four big healthcare centers, and near the Kelenföld Railway Station a so-called “super hospital” would be built in the upcoming years, possibly followed by another “super hospital” in Buda.
