Hungary was involved in a NATO Mission to reconstruct Afghanistan between 2006 and 2013 and the Hungarian government is committed to support further the stabilization of the country, spokesperson Anna Nagy said. Foreign aid is needed because Afghanistan’s forces are not yet able to ensure full stability on their own after NATO pulls out of the country, she added.
Under a government decree passed on August 15, 80 % of the funds will go to the Afghan military and 20 % to the police.
