After the National Economic Committee (NVB) passed the referendum question with nine voting in favor and three voting against, it was brought before the Curia by opposition parties. Under the Curiaʼs ruling, the referendum can now take place.
The referendum question translates as: “Do you want the European Union to prescribe the settlement of non-Hungarian citizens into Hungary without the approval of the Hungarian Parliament?”
The president of the NVB said earlier that the question is not in violation of international laws, as it does not name any EU institutions in particular, and the Fundamental Law of Hungary addresses the European Union in general terms, according to Hungarian online daily index.hu.
