The club’s restaurant completes the experience with Mediterranean-inspired dishes and club classics.
At the opening, participants could hear a roundtable discussion with Máté Szeberényi, the club’s director and Hungarian champion, Ákos Konárik, former national water polo player and club member, and sports psychologist Zsuzsa Tóvári, who shared their thoughts on preconceptions surrounding golf, as well as the sport’s self-discovery value and its recreational nature.
The goal of the development is for the popular club, with 400 active members, to meet the highest international standards and be ranked among the top 100 clubs in Europe. The club is committed to making the world of golf accessible at all levels – for beginners, advanced players, young people, corporate audiences, and families alike.
The BOTANIQ Máriavölgyi Golf Club is located just 40 minutes from Budapest, in the rolling hills of the Vál Valley. The 18-hole championship course was originally designed by Austrian course architect Hans-Georg Erhardt and, with its varied terrain, offers both technical challenges and visual appeal.
With practice courses, a putting green, and training opportunities, both beginners and professionals can find the playing format best suited to them. On April 1, 2025, the BOTANIQ Junior Golf School, the club’s youth training program, was also launched to promote the sport among the youngest.
As part of the value-preserving and value-creating investment, the clubhouse underwent a complete renovation and interior redesign. A key goal of the BDPST Group development was to restore the economic building designed by Mihály Pollack in the 1820s – which functions as the clubhouse – in compliance with heritage protection requirements, ensuring a dignified and authentic presentation of the monument’s value.
Next to the clubhouse, a locker building was constructed, including men’s and women’s locker rooms, bag rack and trolley storage, and staff service units. The HalfWay House, operating as a standalone unit between the 10th tee and the 18th green, was also renewed. The clubhouse’s interior design was created by 81font, following Anglo-Saxon design traditions.
The spaces are suitable for private and corporate events or weddings of 150–200 guests, while two presentation rooms provide an elegant setting for smaller events, allowing the natural meeting of sport and social life.
As part of the renewed concept, the club’s gastronomic offering has also been updated with the refinement characteristic of BOTANIQ brands. The restaurant, open to everyone every day of the week, is in itself a reason to visit. It evokes the signature dishes of classic club culture with a Mediterranean touch, while drawing on seasonal ingredients and homely flavors.
The menu includes, for example, club sandwiches, linguine alla puttanesca, Neapolitan pizzas, as well as reimagined Hungarian favorites: dill squash stew and homemade Somlói sponge cake. The club’s renewed restaurant awaits not only those wishing to play sports but also guests open to high-quality dining and relaxation.
