As one of Hungary’s leading NGOs, United Way Hungary aims to bring together corporations, institutions, NGOs, and volunteers to address social challenges and provide equal access to social mobility and educational opportunities.
The organization’s primary focus is on supporting disadvantaged children and youth, improving their academic performance through reading and financial programs, as well as assisting young people in developing their employability and entrepreneurial skills, to embark on independent adult lives with greater chances of success.
Each year, United Way Hungary awards representatives of corporations, NGOs, and volunteers with outstanding social achievements.
The recipient of the “Volunteer of the Year” accolade was Julianna Kovácsné Gergely, a dedicated educator who has been an active member of the United Way teaching community for nearly a decade.
The “Corporate Partner of the Year” award went to Celanese Hungary. Katalin Feleki, Celanese Hungary’s CSR lead, was presented with the award for providing significant pro bono assistance in addition to financial and volunteer support.
The organization’s “Civil Partner of the Year” was the Köz-Pont Youth Association, a key civil organization in Debrecen and the eastern Hungarian region. They assist United Way with their local knowledge, expertise, and extensive connections to help disadvantaged young people into the labor market.
The revenue from this successful fundraising event will further assist United Way Hungary in expanding its educational programs to even more schools in disadvantaged areas of Hungary.
