Lidl Hungary has won the "Best Responsible and Sustainable Company" and "Best Innovation for Circular Economy" categories at the CSR Hungary Awards this week, according to a report by the conservative daily Magyar Nemzet.

The company also won the sustainability award of the Mentes-M competition with its carbon-neutral Vemondo organic almond drink.

The Lidl supermarket chain presented its wide-ranging corporate responsibility activities in its entry, which the expert jury of the CSR Hungary Award judged outstanding in the "Best Responsible and Sustainable Company" category.

In the "Best Innovation for the Circular Economy" category, Lidl's plastic reduction strategy and the measures it has implemented based on this were among the best initiatives.

The Mentes-M jury also appreciated Lidl's efforts and awarded a sustainability prize in the organic almond drink subcategory for the Vemondo organic almond drink, which is also carbon neutral. Judit Tőzsér, the company's head of communications, said that Lidl believes that it can and should contribute to creating a sustainable future as a leading player in the retail sector.
