The consumer price index (CPI) climbed 10.8% year-on-year in July, after an 11.5% rise in June.

That was in line with the flash data published on July 31. The annual price growth in food and non-alcoholic beverages eased to 15.6% in July from 17.8% in the prior month.

Housing and utility costs grew at a slower pace of 13.8% annually in July versus a 14.6% surge in the previous month, while prices for alcoholic beverages & tobacco added 11.5% vs 12.4% in June.

The cost also dropped for transport (-8.5% vs -9.7%).

On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices edged down 0.2% in July after remaining flat in June, as estimated.
