Among the 27 member states of the EU, the highest growth rate of the influx of tourists in 2007 was registered by Poland, with 11.5%, followed by Romania with 9.1%.
The average growth rate of the number of tourists within the EU was 3.1% in 2007, while in 2006 it was 4.3%. Only Cyprus yielded a negative growth rate of 4.5%.
Spain, Italy, France, Britain and Austria became the countries attracting the largest amount of tourists in the EU in 2007. The number of foreign tourists received by the Baltic nations of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania in 2007 was 1.8 million, 2.7 million and 1.5 million respectively. (Xinhua)
