Telecoms giant Deutsche Telekom (DT) has decided to set up a financial services center in Bratislava instead of Hungary, daily Hospodárské Noviny reported.

Although there is no official confirmation yet, the hub will be worth several million euros and will create at least 500 jobs.

According to the paper, the Slovakian location was chosen because of proximity to Vienna as well as the country being a member of the eurozone. The crisis taxes in effect in Hungary are likely to have played a strong deterrent, as they seriously impacted DT’s Hungarian asset Magyar Telekom.
