A municipal court has found supermarket chain Spar Magyarország broke the law by giving itself a payment deadline longer than 30 days in contracts with suppliers, MTI learnt.

The local court of Bicske, where Spar Magyarország is based, said in a first-instance ruling that the company violated the agriculture market act, which stipulates payments to farmers are to be made after no more than 30 days.

Hungary’s Competition Office (GVH) is investigating Spar Magyarország on suspicion of abuse of market position, MTI learnt.
