As for the movies themselves, The Wolf of Wall Street ($2,454,420) just barely nudged out The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug ($2,421,573) to claim the Hungarian box office’s top two spots in income. The other two flicks to top $2 million in Hungary were Frozen and Iron Man 3.

A total of 15 films all grossed over $1 million in Hungary in 2013 and altogether accounted for nearly 35% of all box office in the country. According to movie industry-centric website BoxOfficeMojo.com, a total of 136 feature-length films played in Hungarian cinemas last year.

Following the above-mentioned four films in terms of Hungarian box-office gross intake were Despicable Me 2; Gravity; We’re the Millers; The Hangover Part III; Last Vegas; The Smurfs 2; Grown Ups 2; Thor: The Dark World; Django Unchained; The Hunger Games: Catching Fire; and 47 Ronin.
