Fico remained optimistic about finding a solution to potential blockage of member states’ nuclear ambitions, however, stating that “history has shown that if opposing member states engage in negotiations … a mutually satisfactory solution is always found.”

Fico stated that he believes Hungary and the Czech Republic are “ready to form solid opposition [with Slovakia] to any potential anti-nuclear measures sponsored by the EU.” Said the PM: “We would need to reach some kind of an agreement. There is no other way out.”
