The Budapest Stock Exchange’s main BUX index finished Monday up 0.77% at 18,031.43, after rising 1.00% on Friday. Budapest stocks rose, similar to European peers, for the second session in a row, and the rise outpaced most of Europe. Trade volume remained, however, thin. The forint was also in demand, it traded below 308 to the euro in the afternoon, at its strongest level since July.
OTP gained 1.05% to HUF 4,153 on turnover of HUF 1.82 bln from a HUF 3.07 bln session total. MOL increased 0.92% to HUF 12,050 on turnover of HUF 432 mln. Magyar Telekom fell 1.10% to HUF 361 on turnover of HUF 101 mln. Richter advanced 1.42% to HUF 4,011 on turnover of HUF 354 mln. The bourse’s mid-cap BUMIX finished the day 0.45% lower at 1,499.58.
Elsewhere in the region, Warsaw’s WIG20 was up 0.36%, while Prague’s PX increased 0.16%. Western Europe’s major indices were up ahead of their close Friday, FTSE-100 in London 0.53%, the DAX in Frankfurt up 0.12% and CAC40 in Paris 0.18%.
