Seconds before Orbán arriving to the stage, Juncker said “the dictator is coming” and welcomed Orbán addressing him as “dictator”.
Eariler in January, Juncker grabbed the hand of Orbán following their handshake in front of the journalists’ cameras in Brussels and pulled the Hungarian prime minister off the stage.
In May 2014, Orbán and the U.K.ʼs David Cameron were the only EU leaders to say they would not support Juncker in becoming the president of the European Commission. The Hungarian PM was the first EPP leader to publicly express unwillingness to support Juncker. “We don’t believe he should lead the Commission” Orbán said when giving an interview to Hungarian television channel Hír TV. “There is no way I would vote on Juncker.”
