Under the elevated terror alert, more Police officers as well as armored vehicles are being deployed at Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport, while the capital’s metro lines and Kossuth tér, adjacent to the Parliament building, will be secured by Hungary’s Counter Terrorism Center (TEK), the minister said at a press conference today.
Pintér said that to date, a Level Three alert had been in place as part of the four-tier system. The Level Two alert will be in effect until it becomes clear exactly what happened in Brussels and what can be expected in other countries in Europe, the interior minister added, according to reports.
Hungary’s Police Chief Károly Papp noted that the freedom of passengers is not being limited but Police presence is being elevated at the airport and on major public transit lines, including train and metro stations, according to reports.
