The value of exports amounted to €6.8 billion and the value of imports to €6.3 bln in January, according to data released by the KSH. 

In euro terms, exports increased by 0.9% and imports by 3.9% in January as compared to the same month a year earlier.

The volume of machinery and transport equipment rose by 1.6% in exports and 3% in imports, while the export and import volumes of manufactured goods were up by 3% and 9.7%, respectively, KSH said.

KSH data show that the import volume of fuels and electric energy increased by 13%, while the export volume of food, beverages and tobacco decreased by 4.6%.

The volume of exports to EU member states rose by 3.5% and the volume of imports from the EU were up 5.3%, KSH said, adding that in extra-EU trade, the volume of exports fell by 6%, while the volume of imports grew by 8.7%.
