Síaréna Managing Director Bálint Ebele told MTI that the firm will build a 1-kilometer illuminated slope, with a chairlift, for beginners and intermediate-level skiers. The chairlift will operate in summer, too, when visitors can ride down a cycle path parallel to the ski slope, Ebele added. Síaréna will expand the total length of all of its runs to 7.5 km.
Hungaryʼs government is supporting the investment with a HUF 150 mln grant, said Máriusz Révész, government commissioner for promoting active recreation. Síaréna has already invested more than HUF 2 billion at the slope in Eplény, he noted.
The government is also awarding a HUF 150 mln grant for developments at a ski slope in Mátraszentistván, in the Mátra Hills of northeast Hungary. The operator of the ski slope there has invested HUF 1.2 bln in the operation.
