AIC is a measure of the material welfare of households.

The lowest AIC per capita in the EU was registered in Bulgaria (61% of the EU average), followed by Croatia (67%), while the Hungarian numbers were the third lowest. 

At the other end of the spectrum, nine member states recorded AIC per capita above the EU average. The highest level in the EU was recorded in Luxembourg, (131%), followed by Germany (123%) and Denmark (121%). The Netherlands, Austria, Finland, Belgium, Sweden, and France recorded levels between 5% and 20% above the EU average.
