Spending by foreign tourists jumped 111% to HUF 556 bln, albeit from a low pandemic base. Day-trippers accounted for HUF 132 bln of that spending.

Spending by Hungarians on holiday abroad climbed 193% to HUF 245 bln. Hungarians' spending rose because of an increase in the number of trips, longer stays, inflation, and the weaker forint, KSH said.

Hungarians spent the most, some HUF 48 bln, in Austria. They spent HUF 31 bln in Germany and HUF 18 bln in Italy.
