Our new summer menu is inspired by the principles of agritourism: celebrating local producers, seasonal ingredients, traditional knowledge, and the unique agricultural heritage of the region. Through every dish, we invite our guests to discover the landscape of Tállya not only through its wines and scenery, but also through its flavors.

Agritourism is about creating a connection between visitors and the land. It is about understanding where food comes from and appreciating the people who cultivate it.

That philosophy is reflected throughout our menu. Guests can begin their journey with homemade spreads from the Barka pantry, regional cheese selections, Mangalica specialties, or classic beef tartare served with sourdough bread and fresh vegetables. Each dish highlights ingredients and traditions deeply rooted in the agricultural culture of the region.

One of the greatest gifts of summer is abundance. Fresh vegetables, herbs, fruits, and dairy products reach their peak, allowing us to create dishes that are both simple and expressive.

Our green pea cream soup with goat cheese captures the freshness of early summer, while the seasonal fruit soup celebrates the harvests of local orchards. The rich guinea fowl consommé pays tribute to the poultry farming traditions that have long been part of rural Hungarian life.

By embracing seasonal ingredients, we allow nature to guide our menu and ensure that every visit offers an authentic taste of the moment.

A Countryside Culinary Journey

The main courses on our summer menu showcase the diversity of the region’s agricultural heritage.

Traditional Hungarian comfort foods sit alongside contemporary interpretations of local ingredients. Guests can enjoy our beloved giant Wiener schnitzel, duck breast risotto, steak, and grilled goat cheese, while new dishes bring fresh perspectives to familiar flavors.

Our homemade ribbon pasta with pork tenderloin, tomato, ginger, chili, and aged regional cheese combines local craftsmanship with modern culinary techniques. Chicken paprikash with homemade egg dumplings and house-made pickles celebrates one of Hungary’s most iconic rural dishes, while our lecsó with sourdough bread captures the essence of summer vegetable harvests.

For a lighter option, the Barka saesar salad with chicken or shrimp offers a fresh and satisfying choice.

Desserts are an opportunity to showcase the fruits and traditions of the season. Our signature poppy seed bread pudding remains on the menu, joined by cottage cheese dumplings with fruit coulis and sweet and sour cream. For a lighter finish, our elderflower chocolate mousse reflects the delicate floral notes that define the Hungarian countryside in early summer.

Agritourism is not simply about eating local food. It is about understanding a region through its agriculture, traditions, landscapes, and communities.

Located in the historic village of Tállya, Barka Galéria Hotel offers guests an opportunity to experience the rhythm of Tokaj-Hegyalja through its vineyards, local producers, cultural heritage, and cuisine. Our restaurant serves as a meeting point between the land and the table, bringing together the flavors, stories, and people that make this region unique.

Whether you are exploring the vineyards of Tokaj-Hegyalja, discovering the charm of rural Hungary, or simply looking for an authentic farm-to-table dining experience, our new summer menu invites you to taste the landscape and connect with the region in a meaningful way. Because every ingredient has a story, and every meal is a journey through the countryside.
