Under the agreement, the dividends payable to these foundations will be paid no later than September 11, 2026, Richter said in an announcement on the website of the Budapest Stock Exchange.
“This agreement does not affect other shareholders of the company,” it added.
Richter CEO Gábor Orbán said after an annual general meeting earlier on Wednesday that talks were underway with the foundations on payment of the dividend.
He added that the incoming prime minister, Péter Magyar, had asked for assistance from Richter’s management to postpone payment of dividend to public-interest asset management foundations until the European Union’s concerns over the autonomy of local institutions of higher education were resolved.
Foundations that run the Corvinus University of Budapest and the Mathias Corvinus Collegium, each hold a 10% stake in Richter.
Those stakes were transferred from the state in 2020. Richter shareholders approved payment of a HUF 120 bln dividend on 2025 earnings at the AGM on Wednesday.
