GVH said there is evidence that fraudulent websites, including those mimicking the MBH Bank website, may have appeared at the top of Google search results.

These problematic ads, which passed Google’s internal review, could redirect users to dangerous platforms that could steal banking information.

Google operates in the European Union through its Ireland-based subsidiary.

GVH claims that, from March 15 this year, Google failed to adequately filter ads, allowing content to appear that violated both its own advertising policies and legal regulations. This, the authority said, may have contributed to the misuse of MBH Bank’s name and the theft of users’ financial data.
