So far this year, insurers have allocated more than HUF 13.1 billion to over 101,000 claims.

Payouts are up by HUF 3 bln compared to the same period last year.

The average payout for damages was HUF 139,000 edging up by HUF 2,000 from last year.

Mabisz noted that in 2020 it paid out HUF 6.6 bln for damages after 85,000 claims.

The association said higher payouts can be attributed to the increasing intensity of storms year after year, but at the same time, increased construction and repair costs also play a role.
