The latest timeline now points to the end of July.

On May 2, 2024, Hungary opened a new 20-kilometer stretch of the M6, running south between Bóly (185 km south of Budapest) and Lippó (190 km south). This new section brings the Adriatic Sea closer for drivers, leaving only a few kilometers on the Croatian side to finish the two-lane link.

Despite contractors claiming construction is in its “final phase,” the handover date has continued to slip. The project was initially scheduled for completion in April but was pushed back to early summer.

Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ivan Anušić, speaking recently in Beli Manastir, said the connection would finally open by late July.

Anušić emphasized that completing the north-south European 5C corridor would drive new investment, speed up freight traffic, and attract more tourists, boosting regional economic growth.
