The value of imports in euro terms dropped by 7.0% year-on-year, while exports saw only a slight 0.5% decline. The trade balance improved by EUR 684 mln compared to the same month in 2023.
The total value of Hungary’s exports in December amounted to EUR 10.2 bln, while imports stood at EUR 9.8 bln. Trade activity also slowed compared to November 2024, with exports decreasing by 19% and imports by 17%.
Trade with EU member states continued to dominate Hungary’s external trade structure, with 74% of exports and 72% of imports linked to the European Union.

While the decline in imports contributed to a more favorable trade balance, the drop in exports highlights potential headwinds for Hungary’s manufacturing and export-driven industries heading into 2025.
