The number was practically level with that in the previous month, state news wire MTI wrote, citing NFSZ figures.
The data show 3,974 Hungarians registered as jobseekers for the first time during the month. The total number of new jobseeker registrations, including repeat registrations, reached 29,388.
Around 42% of registered jobseekers received no benefits in August.
Moreover, approximately 35% had been seeking work for longer than a year.
According to the data, jobseekers were registered for 494 days on average.
