All facilities have been reserved for the remainder of 2011 since March.Tamás Csapó, CEO and President of Korda Studios today announced that all of the studio complex’s 6 sound stages, including the new 63,000 square foot Superstage, production support facilities, workshops, offices, dressing and make-up rooms, and backlot sets – with the exception of the New York street set – on the 86 acre lot are full until December 31st, 2011.
Sales of spaces for 2012 were begun in April.Currently two large TV productions are in pre-production at the studio, both serviced by local service provider and coproducer Mid-Atlantic Kft. Showtime’s The Borgias has returned for production of its second season, starring Jeremy Irons, Francois Arnaud, Peter Sullivan, Holliday Grainger, David Oakes, Aidan Alexander, Luke Pasqualino and Joanne Whalley. The success of the series premier in the U.S. led to the green light for Season 2.
Also in preproduction on the Korda Studios lot is World Without End, directed by Michael Caton-Jones, and based on the novel by Ken Follett. The 43 million USD, 8 part TV mini-series is a follow-up to the success of last year’s Ken Follet mini-series adaptation, Pillars of the Earth.
The film is produced by Tandem Communications of Germany, Scott Free, Take 5 of Canada, and Mid-Atlantic Kft.In June of 2011 Korda Studios will also open its newest development, the Korda Filmpark.
The new tourist attraction, comprised of a Korda museum dedicated to the prolific Korda brothers, Alexander, Zoltán and Vincent Korda, an interactive science of filmmaking exhibit, and a new restaurant, is expected to draw 50,000 visitors in its first year. The Korda Filmpark visitors center investment is budgeted at 1,191,000,000 Hungarian Forints (HUF), of which 595 million forints is funded by the New Hungary Development Plan.
