Vitézy said the upgrades cover Záhony station, and the railway yards in Záhony and Eperjeske. Railway tracks that have fallen into disuse will be reopened, he added.
Construction work is set to begin in a few weeks, as the goal is for state-owned railway company MÁV to increase transshipment capacity in the Záhony area as soon as possible.
Vitézy noted that in the past weeks they have conducted talks with Technology and Industry Minister László Palkovics with all involved Hungarian actors and also with the leadership of Ukrainian Railways in Berlin. The exact technical content of the upgrades was determined together with MÁV specialists based on these consultations.
