Szijjártó wrote in a letter to Blinken thanking him for his remarks "highlighting the important role the V4 has been playing in 'strengthening Central Europe and the Transatlantic Alliance'".
He noted that Hungary would take over the rotating V4 presidency from July 2021.
"We are committed to building on the successes of the last 30 years by working towards a stronger Central Europe and enhanced cooperation with the United States based on our shared interests and values," he wrote in the letter posted on his Facebook page.
In his congratulatory message, posted on the U.S. State Department website, Blinken acknowledged the V4 had "amplified the collective voices of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia on important regional issues, including by supporting the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Western Balkans and the EU's Eastern Partnership countries".
