The council, which is headed by Parliament House Speaker László Kövér, approved the position on the signing of the TTIP agreement in a vote with 16 in support, one voting against and one abstaining, MTI reported.
Kövér said in April that Hungary will continue to defend its national interests through negotiations of the proposed (TTIP). Hungary’s foreign minister Péter Szijjártó said in the same month that a “good” TTIP could boost Hungarian exports to America by 15-20% and create 20,000-30,000 jobs.
However, in May, Foreign Ministry state secretary István Mikola said Hungary is against the inclusion of the investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) clause in the TTIP.
