A deepening and enlivening of economic, trade, financial, infrastructural and technology cooperation was discussed by participants at a meeting of the Hungarian-Ukrainian Economic Cooperation Mixed Committee in Odessa on November 28-29, the National Development Ministry said on Tuesday.
An agreement was reached at the meeting on an official visit to Hungary by Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov early in 2012.
Hungarian National Development Minister Tamas Fellegi and Ukrainian trade minister Mykola Prisyajnyuk agreed at the meeting to study an expansion of electricity exports capacity from Ukraine to Hungary as well as the possibility of launching joint products to improve energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy resources.
The sides reviewed at the meeting the elimination of obstacles to bilateral trade and the expansion of capacity of the logistics cluster in the Zahony region, on Hungary’s border with Ukraine.
At a press conference after the meeting, Mr Fellegi noted the importance of developing infrastructure at border crossings in the Zahony region.
Hungarian companies see a chance to participate in the modernisation and expansion of communal systems in big Ukrainian cities, in waste water treatment projects, in infrastructure development programmes, in road reconstruction projects, in motorway construction, in state home construction projects, in the agriculture sector, in wine-making, crop-growing, animal husbandry, meat processing and food processing, Mr Fellegi said.
