During a two-day ministerial session of NATO states held in Antalya, Turkey, Szijjártó participated in talks with his Canadian counterpart, Robert Nicholson, to discuss among other things the direct flights that will be re-established between the two countries.
Szijjártó said SkyGreece is expected to launch direct flights between Budapest and Toronto later this month, adding that the airline will operate two flights per week. Nicholson said that Canadian carrier Air Transat also plans on launching a direct flight from Montreal to Budapest in June.
Szijjártó said Canada considers Hungary a key partner and the most attractive central European country for Canadian companies looking to invest in Europe. The main areas of investment include the automotive industry, environmental protection and real-estate development, Szijjártó added.
