The new law should give ÁSZ the power to require action from audited parties to correct shortfalls. It should also be given the legal tools with which to prevent or mitigate damages in the interest of defending public assets, it added. The new law must preserve ÁSZ’s independence, inclusive of its staff, financial and institutional independence, ÁSZ said.
The new law should be one that requires a two-thirds majority in Parliament to amend, it added.
ÁSZ noted it was asked by Parliament’s Economy and IT Committee to participate in a review and redraft the law governing the office.
