The figure is lower than the European Union average of 13%, but fares better compared to the average 4% in new member states, chairman of the National Communications Authority (NHH) Dániel Pataki told a conference.
Pataki noted that broadband internet access was technically available in 85% of the country at the end of 2005, an improvement from 58% at the end of 2004. He added that monthly subscription prices on internet packages have halved since 2002, which should give room for further growth.
