Earlier on Tuesday, Sólyom consulted with the heads of the five parties which will participate in parliament. In addition to the four parliamentary parties before the elections (former coalition partners MSzP and SzDSz and opposition parties Fidesz and MDF), the Christian Democrats (KDNP), which formed an election coalition with Fidesz, may also form a fraction in the new parliament.
Official results of the elections are expected on May 10, once all appeals have been decided. The National Elections Office (OVI) has received a total of 21 applications seeking legal redress against the results of the second round of Hungary’s national elections, OVI head Emília Rytko said on Sunday. She said each complaint would be investigated by the local elections offices in Budapest and in eight counties and decisions would be rendered by Tuesday at the latest.
