Following a meeting of the national defense council, Orbán said in the video that Hungary had not received oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline since January 27.

“From the information it is obvious that this unprecedented stoppage has political rather than technical reasons; the Ukrainian government is exerting pressure on Hungary and Slovakia through the oil blockade,” Orbán said, adding that reports by the national security services suggested “further action by Ukraine to disturb the Hungarian energy system.”

“I have therefore ordered reinforcement of the protection of critical energy infrastructure. This means placing soldiers and equipment around key energy facilities to evade attacks,” Orbán said, adding that police presence at power plants, distributors and control facilities would also be increased.

“I have also ordered a ban on flying drones in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County” on the Hungarian side of the Ukrainian border, the prime minister said.

“Hungary won’t be blackmailed,” he added.
