This is why the government decided to cover households’ additional costs resulting from the unusually cold weather, and a working group has been set up that is meeting Monday morning to work out the details, the state secretary of the Ministry of Energy said, according to a report by news wire MTI.
Czepek noted that the planned measure will affect all 3.3 million households using gas for heating and all 600,000 households using district heating.
He noted that an average Hungarian household spends around HUF 250,000 a year on gas and electricity compared to the equivalent of HUF 650,000 in Slovakia, HUF 600,000 in Romania, HUF 900,000 in Poland and HUF 1 million in Czechia.
