Orbán said the government had no envy of businesses' capital, on the contrary, it wanted all businesses to have greater success and bigger profits. "It is the responsibility and task of political leaders to coordinate this in a way that allows businesses' own success to become the success of the whole country," he added.
"We're a government that believes that a rising tide lifts all boats," he said.
While companies are motivated by profit, "which is a good thing, that's what we call the market and private ownership", there is political motivation to ensure the economy operates for the benefit of the nation, he said.
That applies to matters such as the purchase of the operator of Budapest's international airport, which is at once a "business matter" from the corporate perspective and a "matter of national economy" for the government, he added.
