Events of Budapest Business Journal

The Budapest Business Journal CEO Gala has, for more than a decade, been one of the most prestigious and tradition-setting black-tie events in Hungary’s business calendar. Each year, it brings together leading figures from the domestic and international senior executive community in a formal and celebratory setting. 

 

Over time, the Gala has become an institution in its own right. It is not merely a high-profile social occasion, but a platform dedicated to recognising leadership excellence, long-term strategic thinking, and responsible corporate governance. Its guest list regularly includes chief executives and board members of multinational and Hungarian companies, ambassadors, and influential decision-makers from the business and institutional spheres.

 

At the core of the CEO Gala are its leadership awards: the Expat CEO Award and the CEO Community Award. The award recipients are selected by two independent professional awards committees, whose work is actively supported by bilateral chambers of commerce and professional organisations operating in Hungary. The selection process is assisted, among others, by AmCham Hungary, DUIHK, several other bilateral chambers, as well as HIPA, ensuring a high level of professional credibility, objectivity, and an international perspective.

 

 

The Expat CEO Award recognises foreign senior executives working in Hungary who make a significant contribution to the development of the local business environment. It honours leaders who successfully manage international companies in Hungary and act as a bridge between the Hungarian economy and the global business community, combining international experience with strong local engagement and a sustainable leadership approach.

 

 

The CEO Community Award is presented to leaders who contribute not only to the success of their own organisations, but also actively support and shape the wider business community. The award recognises collaboration, mentorship, community-minded leadership, and the understanding that long-term business success is inseparable from wider corporate and social responsibility.

 

Today, the BBJ CEO Gala has become the annual meeting point of Hungary’s business elite, where past achievements and future challenges are considered side by side. The history of the event reflects the core mission of the Budapest Business Journal itself: to connect, recognise, and inspire the business community operating in Hungary.
