It marked the lowest reading since April 2022, as prices eased mainly for food & non-alcoholic beverages (21.7% vs 25.4% in April), housing & utilities (10.9% vs 12.3%) and furnishings, household equipment & maintenance (11.6% vs 11.9%).
Furthermore, costs decreased further for transport (-3.3% vs -0.2%), due to the sharp decline in fuel prices.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) went down 0.1%, the first drop since December 2020.
