It was the highest inflation rate since September of 1996, with food & non-alcoholic beverage prices jumping 28.5%, the most since June 1996, amid surging global commodity prices.
Main upward price pressures also came from prices of transport (35.1% vs 27.5% in May) and housing & utilities (46.3% vs 43.3%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices climbed 2.3% in June.
