The number of active infections has reached 28,510.
The number of COVID-19 deaths stands at 46,790.
There are 1,345 coronavirus patients in hospital, including 19 on ventilators.
A total of 1,965,481 COVID-19 cases have been registered in Hungary since the start of the pandemic.
So far, 6,413,420 people have been inoculated against the coronavirus. They include 6,200,225 who have already had their second jab of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 3,888,311 have had a booster jab.
The country's population is a little under 9.7 million.
Hungary started inoculating healthcare workers and people most vulnerable to the coronavirus late in 2020. The vaccination rollout advanced at a pace that put Hungary at the forefront in the European Union, supported by a government decision to add the Chinese Sinopharm and the Russian Sputnik V jabs to a mix of vaccines manufactured in the West the country bought as part of a joint EU order.
In March 2022, as the fifth wave of the pandemic waned, the government decided to end a mask mandate, roll back rules allowing employers to require workers to get their COVID jabs, and phase out regulations on immunity certificates.
Hungary has started construction of its own national vaccine plant, in Debrecen, and production there is slated to begin by the end of 2022.
