According to a statement issued on the MNB’s website, Kurali welcomed the drop in consumer price inflation to 4.7% in March as “good news,” but cautioned that “we can’t rest yet.”

He stressed the need to return inflation to the MNB’s 2-4% tolerance band and to use economic policy tools to ease inflationary pressures, particularly from food prices, services, and inflation expectations.

Kurali also emphasized the importance of maintaining the resilience of the financial intermediary system, managing systemic risks, and applying macroprudential tools effectively to safeguard economic and market confidence.
