It was the steepest decline in producer prices since November 2020, weighed down by decreases in prices for mining & quarrying (-18%) and electricity, gas, steam & air-conditioning supply (-9.1%).
Meanwhile, costs increased for manufacturing (0.5%) and water supply (1.6%). On a monthly basis, producer prices shrank 3.7% in May, following a 1% fall in the prior period.
