Prices of food and soft drinks rose 15.1% and prices of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels went up 7.5%, while transportation costs fell 4.8%.
On a monthly basis, consumer inflation stood at 0.5%, easing from 1% in the previous month.
Measured by the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP), prices of goods and services for personal consumption increased by an annual 8.3% on average in May, while compared to April they increased by 0.6%.
